D-Star / DVMEGA

What happens when I put an old Raspberry Pi to work? I made my ID-880H even more useful.

I decided to order DVMEGA RPI radio module to plug into the Pi. The module came in about 10 days. Not bad.

I put the DStar Commander enhanced G4KLX image on an SD Card and ran the windows config tool included. Set up was a piece of cake.

I grabbed a Pibow Ninja case and a couple extra spacer pieces (needed extra height for the DVMega to fit nicely), a Diamond SRH805S antenna and an Edimax EW-7811Un 150Mbps 11n Wi-Fi USB Adapter. Here’s the end result.

Hi, thanks for this info, It was exactly what I was looking for. Just a couple of mod questions on the case; what size drill bit did you need for the case drilling>

I don’t remember the drill bit size. It’ll depend on the diameter of the antenna. I just measured that and drilled the hole. It ended up very slightly off center so I had to shave a little more off on one side to make it fit. Its pretty easy. If you’re looking for a stand alone D-star, this is a good way to go. I’ve been very happy with it.
